Awesome Bible Verse Coloring Pages: Printable and Free to Download

Bible stories and jumbo coloring books were the way of the world growing up as a 90s kid. I can still see one of the first pages depicting Adam and Eve in the garden as the sun is peeking through the leaves. I would pick a variety of greens to decorate the scene, marking the sun beams with a deep, golden yellow.

As I got older, Bible coloring turned into Bible lessons, which leader turned into Bible studies. Unfortunately, along the way, my love for scripture and my passion for creating became disconnected.

Years later as I invested more and more time into personal Bible study, I realized that there really is no one way – nor just one “right” way, to engage with scripture. Nowadays, I am including more creative practices into my devotional time. Most of the time, this looks like color-coding scripture, using different highlighters to add vibrancy to a page. But sometimes even a more simple approach might be preferable. That’s where our Bible verse coloring pages come in!

Benefits of Bible Verse Coloring Pages

Meditation & Continual Spiritual Growth

Contrary to popular belief, engaging with scripture doesn’t always have to mean taking a long passage and doing a deep, convoluted study. I’ve found that just one verse of scripture is often enough to encourage, bring healing, and get me on my way again.

The Bible tells us that we ought to meditate on the Word of God day and night (Joshua 1:8). However, meditation can sound like such a vague and obscure process. You may not know where to begin, how long you should do it for, or exactly what should be happening.

The Bible verse coloring pages offered here each focus on just one scripture. As you color the page continue to think of what the description means and how the verse can be applied to your life. Have fun, empty your mind of the cares of life, and let the word of God bring restoration. By the end, you will have added another piece of scripture to your arsenal that you can activate when doubt, fear, or negativity tries to creep in.

Stress Relief and Relaxation

Quiet activities such as coloring are calming for adults and children alike. Unless you count choosing which crayon or marker to use next, there are no weighty decisions to be made, no distractions, and no pressing demands. In fact, you don’t even have to finish coloring the page in one sitting if you don’t want to. It’s all about taking time out of the busy schedule to unwind, and that can look however you want it to.

Whether you cozy up on a day bed with some crayon pencils or amble out onto the porch with watercolors and a snack – for good measure, our coloring pages are here to add a little more joy to your time of refreshing.

Creative Expression

According to Genesis 1:27, we are – male and female – made in the “image of God; that is, after His likeness. We know that God is the ultimate creator. All the beautiful wonderment of nature is His handiwork – the lush foliage, turquoise seas, fascinating creatures – they are all originated in the mind of God!

Because we are like our Father, we also have the ability to express ourselves creatively; Bible verse coloring pages are a great means of doing so. Take your pick and let those creative juices flow!
